Brief News on the Economic Operation of the Machine Tool Industry from January to November 2024

Based on the data obtained and collated by the China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association, the main indicators of the operation of China's machine tool industry from January to November 2024 are presented as follows.
The total operating income of the entire machine tool industry reached 930.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%. Among them, metal-cutting machine tools increased by 6.6% year-on-year, and metal-forming machine tools increased by 5.5% year-on-year. New orders for metal processing machine tools increased by 3.7% year-on-year, and orders on hand increased by 4.6% year-on-year. The output of metal-cutting machine tools of enterprises above designated size nationwide was 612,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%; the output of metal-forming machine tools was 144,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. The total import and export volume of machine tool products was 28.79 billion dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 1.2%. Among them, the import value was 9.19 billion dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 9.4%; the export value was 19.59 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. The import value of metal-cutting machine tools was 4.33 billion dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%; the export value was 5.04 billion dollars, remaining the same year-on-year. The import value of metal-forming machine tools was 620 million dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 28.7%; the export value was 2.30 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.
